Toby Okani Returns to WVU for the 2024-25 Season

On the final decision day for college basketball players to remove their names from the upcoming NBA draft, Toby Okani, one of West Virginia’s newest additions, decided to return to school. This decision was confirmed by Jeff Goodman and the Field of 68.

Head Coach Darian DeVries expressed his excitement: “Toby is poised to have a great senior year. He’s a very versatile defender. He rebounds the ball at a high rate and has the ability to finish above the rim and will really excel in our transition offense. I just love the flexibility he will give us at both ends of the floor!”

Okani’s Journey and Performance

Okani, 6-foot-8, committed to West Virginia in late April after considering other schools such as St. Bonaventure, LSU, and Virginia. His performance statistics from the previous season are impressive:

  • Points per Game: 11.1
  • Rebounds per Game: 6.8
  • Assists per Game: 1.9
  • Steals per Game: 1.5
  • Blocks per Game: 2.0
  • Field Goal Percentage: 39%
  • Three-Point Percentage: 32%
  • Free Throw Percentage: 57%

One of his standout performances included a 31-point game against Drake, which demonstrated his potential and skill on the court.

Future Prospects

The Orange, NJ native has one year of eligibility remaining and is expected to make a significant impact in the 2024-25 season.
