WVU Football Secures Commitment from Highly Touted OL Gavin Crawford

The West Virginia Mountaineers continue to build a formidable future for their offensive line with the recent commitment of Gavin Crawford, a standout interior lineman from Olney (Md.) Good Counsel High School. Crawford, who stands 6’4″ and weighs 300 pounds, chose WVU over an impressive array of scholarship offers, including Georgia, Florida, UCLA, Tennessee, Maryland, Pittsburgh, Michigan State, Boston College, Syracuse, and Duke.

Crawford’s recruitment journey saw several twists and turns, but one constant remained: his strong affinity for West Virginia. Since his visit to the Big 12 school in January, the Mountaineers consistently ranked high on his list of potential destinations. Despite new offers and shifting preferences, WVU remained a top contender, culminating in his commitment announced on Wednesday.

Crawford’s decision marks a significant win for the Mountaineers’ recruiting efforts. He is the second offensive lineman from Good Counsel to commit to WVU, following in the footsteps of incoming freshman Kyle Altuner and fellow 2025 commit Eidan Buchanan. His addition reinforces WVU’s strategy of bolstering their offensive line with highly skilled players who can make an impact early in their collegiate careers.

Crawford is a versatile player, primarily projected as a left guard but also capable of playing center if needed. His physicality and ability to pull and clear paths in the run game make him a valuable asset. Crawford’s skills and work ethic suggest he could see playing time relatively early in his career, providing a significant boost to WVU’s offensive line depth.

As he prepares for his official visit to WVU next weekend, Crawford is already looking to contribute off the field by helping to recruit additional talent to join him in Morgantown. His commitment not only strengthens the Mountaineers’ offensive line but also sets the stage for further recruiting successes.

The addition of Gavin Crawford underscores West Virginia’s dedication to building a competitive and resilient team. Fans and analysts alike will be watching closely as Crawford and his fellow recruits develop and contribute to the Mountaineers’ future successes.
