WVU Men’s Basketball Welcomes Jalen Cannady to Coaching Staff

West Virginia University’s men’s basketball team is thrilled to announce the newest addition to their coaching staff. Darian DeVries, the Mountaineers’ head coach, has officially welcomed Jalen Cannady as the new Video Coordinator.

Cannady, who most recently served as the Player Development Coach and Video Coordinator for the Birmingham Squadron in the NBA G-League, will bring his expertise in film analysis and game preparation to WVU. Coach DeVries expressed his enthusiasm about the hire, stating, “We are excited to have Jalen join our staff as our video coordinator. His experience with high-level basketball and his skills in analyzing film will be invaluable to our program.”

Before his stint with the Birmingham Squadron, Cannady gained significant experience as a graduate assistant and assistant director of scouting at UNC Charlotte from 2021 to 2023. His extensive background also includes roles such as player development coach for Keep Stacking Days Basketball, head coach for Team History Basketball Club, youth basketball coach for Five-Star Sports China, and assistant coach at Catawba Valley Community College.

A Concord, North Carolina native, Cannady earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from North Carolina Wesleyan College in 2016. His diverse coaching experience and background in high-level basketball will undoubtedly contribute to the continued success of WVU men’s basketball.
