West Virginia Mountaineers Secure Commitment from Elgin Sessions

West Virginia University has landed a significant commitment for its 2025 recruiting class. Elgin Sessions, a standout defensive back from Irmo (SC) Dutch Fork, has officially committed to the Mountaineers. Sessions made his decision public after a successful official visit to Morgantown, where he connected deeply with the coaching staff and the WVU community. The news was first reported by EerSports.com.

During his visit, Sessions was particularly impressed with the hospitality and the relationships he built with the coaches and players. “My relationship with all the coaches and staff, specifically my position coaches Shadon Brown and Jevaughn Codlin,” Sessions explained to EerSports. “The hospitality, and knowing I have a chance to play as soon as possible. I got there and bonded with the players instantly. Overall, I felt wanted and needed. And can’t forget about the academic opportunities as well.”

Sessions was on campus this past weekend for an official visit, and he had nothing but praise for the experience. “The visit was amazing,” he shared with EerSports. “I was greeted with hospitality at the door. It felt like family since Day One…. Great people, great environment. We connected and have a lot in common, with football being one of them. Overall, the visit was great.”

The highly-touted defensive back chose West Virginia over other strong programs, including Duke and Georgia Tech. He had a total of thirteen offers, highlighting his sought-after status among college football programs.

For the Mountaineers, securing a commitment from Sessions is a significant win. His addition to the team is expected to bolster the defensive backfield, and his early commitment could help attract other top talents to Morgantown. Sessions’ decision underscores the strength of WVU’s coaching staff and the welcoming environment they have cultivated.

As West Virginia continues to build its program under head coach Neal Brown, commitments like Sessions’ are crucial. The combination of strong coaching, immediate playing opportunities, and a supportive community makes WVU an attractive destination for top recruits.

Elgin Sessions’ commitment is a testament to the Mountaineer spirit and the program’s bright future. As WVU looks to compete at the highest levels of college football, the addition of talented players like Sessions will be vital to their success.
